Kevin Sharp - Letters of Recommendation
Kevin Sharp - Letters of Recommendation

November 20, 2003

Dear Mr. Sharp,

I am the Head of the Division of Pediatrics at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, one of the largest comprehensive cancer centers in the world. My husband and I are in the midst of taking country western dancing lessons. Our instructor regularly played a terrific song called, "If She Only Knew." However, the instructor could not remember the name of the artist, as the CD she was using was one compiled for her by someone else. Through some Internet searches, my husband finally found out that you are the artist. We then surfed over to Amazon.com to buy your albums. Somehow my husband stumbled on your cancer history, your work with the Make A Wish Foundation and your website.

He immediately called me and we read your story with much interest. It was like fate! I have been doing research for Ewing's Sarcoma for many years and am currently running a clinical trial for Ewing's patients with metastatic disease using immunotherapy together with chemotherapy. In my laboratory we are trying to understand the genes that control the growth of Ewing's Sarcoma.

If you are ever in Houston and would like to see what we do here in the Division of Pediatrics at M.D. Anderson, it would be an honor for me to give you a personal tour of our clinical unit and our sarcoma research laboratories.

Until then, I will just keep on enjoying your music and dancing to your songs! Wow! What an inspiration.

Sincerely,
Eugenie S. Kleinerman, M.D.
