Kevin Sharp - Letters of Recommendation
June 19, 2000
Dear Kevin,
Words cannot express my gratitude for not only a spectacular performance but also the many additional perks you so graciously provided and the public appearances you made on the behalf of Longview Regional Medical Center and the Longview Children's Clinic.
We have heard nothing but compliments and praise by hospital staff and members of the community who attended the fund-raising event on May 12. Although we all anticipated a wonderful show, we never knew how blessed we'd be. Not only do you have a voice sent from God, He has also given you the talent and ability to touch many hearts and lives with your heart-wrenching story. Your energy and enthusiasm is contagious!
I can honestly say, thanks to your appearance here in Longview, many of our friends and neighbors are now aware of a wonderful charity in their own community. Until your visit, Longview Children's Clinic and the many healthcare services it provides to underserved was virtually unknown.
It is such an honor to say that I have met such a talented, sincere, professional entertainer. I was overwhelmed by the quality of the many interviews you did and the values by which you live.
Longview Regional also lives by a set of values, which we attribute our success. Among these is integrity, which you have oozing out of your pores!
I cannot express how impressed I was by the interview you did with Tony McCullough at (KYKX 105.7 FM) when you expressed the reasons that the movie about your life has not been filmed. Your exact words were, "I thought the truth was good enough." You are absolutely right, you are a living miracle and the truth is enough. There is no reason to embellish such a remarkable story. Yet, many in your position would do it for the publicity alone. You didn't. That is true integrity.
As many of my colleagues will tell you, I have quoted you many times since your visit. As an active volunteer for many charitable organizations I was touched by these words you said, "You never know when you are giving to a charity that will help you some day." Those words ring so true, and if each individual would live by that philosophy, we would never need to beg for volunteers or donations for the many worthwhile charitable causes in our communities.
You and your beautiful wife have left a wonderful and lasting impression on us at Longview Regional. We hope that you will consider working with us in the future. Of course, when you visit Longview again, we would love for you to visit with the staff and administration and tour the facility.
If I can be of further assistance or offer recommendations for concerts and/or speaking engagements for you in the future, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Dana Hufstetler
Marketing Manager
P.S. Thank you for your insight regarding the seating arrangement. You were absolutely right!
